Infinite
I feel bad about coming back to my blog with such a weak post so i dreamed this up for you.
We are unable to grasp the infinite. This is very clear to anyone who has tried to accomplish this feat. If there is some one who thinks that he is able to do so has found a way to trick himself. I know people who when they try to think about how God had no beginning they can't wrap thier minds around that. Then there are people like me who once we start thinking about something so great that we are unable to understand we become excited and think about it even more. I think that this infinitness of God can carry over to His character traits. We cannot fully understand God's holieness because it is infinite. However, we can get a good handle on what his holiesness is. A common example with some modification is to look at His holieness as a huge tree. We can't wrap our arms all the way around it but we can grab a good chunk of it and get a good idea of what it is all about. In addition to this we can move around the tree and grab a different part but in order to do this we must let go of what we had. similarly I can hold in my mind a part of God's holieness or part of his love but if I look at another part I sometimes can't keep the old in my mind. so my conclusion is that looking at God is like looking at a vast landscape from the peak of a mountian that stretches horizontally a great distance and as one looks more and more to the left he can no longer see what is to the right. The trick is to not forget what is to the right but to look back and forth at the whole of the scene. we need to look at how God in his love is such a comfort and a resting place but not forget that he is also, in love, powerfull and not at all tame.

Patrick,
Your second post is "infinitely" better than the first...:-)
I've never heard the tree analogy - it's awesome-
